Review | The Sea of Tranquility - Katja Millay

The Sea of TranquilityThe Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this book because of all the good reviews I've seen in all the blogs I've been following. I don't doubt them, so I don't know why it took me so long to read this book. I knew it was going to be great but it turns out it was beyond great. I'd say it was amazing but it seems to be not enough. I definitely regret delaying to read this because it was incredible, awesome, wonderful, emotional, frustrating, funny, heart-warming and unique. It's definitely different from everything I've ever read. I'd list all my favorite parts from the book but I realized that I loved every single thing about it.

I love every character, how they are all so unique in their own different ways. Also how they are all different from the usual characters you see in most books, for example Drew -- I like how he's a player but he's actually a really good friend. I liked Nastya's sarcasm. How a simple sentence she says makes me smile.

Of course, she still hadn't stopped glaring at me, and I didn't want to seem rude, so I glared back.

I admire Josh's character a lot. I can't quite explain it, I just do. But mostly, I like when they are together -- all the sweet times, the funny times, even the sad times.

I'm bleeding out in the middle of my garage. Ten seconds ago, my worst fear was that I would pass out in front of her. That's not my worst fear anymore. It does it again and I'm in the midst of an undeniable hard-on. Not I try to think about the blood, but she's right in front of me, offering to help me up and it's far too late for that. She glances down. Of course she glances down.

"You're kidding me, right?"

Throughout the book, we discover the secrets little by little together with the characters. And that is another thing I loved about this book -- it is not predictable. Every page is something new. I don't know how Katja Millay came up with this incredible book, but she is a genius, I tell you. I especially liked the story of Josh's grandfather. Then I came to the ending... and I feel giddy every time I read it. :)

"What did you see when you died?"

"Because I'm guessing it wasn't the Sea of Tranquility."

"Where did you go?"

I don't say anything right away, because I just want one minute to look at his face before I give him my last secret.

And then I tell him.

"Your garage."

"The Breeders is a YA dystopian read that's as gritty and dark as the cover and title suggest. Henley, author of The Scourge
